SENIOR PRINCIPAL CONSULTANT
Janice Stultz Roddenbery has since 1987 served as a fundraising consultant to nonprofit organizations. As a senior development professional, she is an acknowledged expert in capital and endowment campaigns and major gifts with long experience in all aspects of prospecting, cultivating and soliciting individuals, foundations and corporations. Her services to clients include feasibility studies, training of senior staff and volunteers, campaign management, department audits, planned giving counsel and executive search. An experienced speaker and trainer, she teaches and leads seminars on capital campaigns, volunteer management and major gifts.
Her consulting clients have included cultural organizations such as the Odessa (Ukraine) Philharmonic Orchestra, American Repertory Ballet, The Morris Museum and the Mary Jacobs Memorial Library; social service organizations such as Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic, Planned Parenthood, American Foundation for AIDS Research (AmFAR), Girls Clubs of America (now Girls Inc.) and The Children's Home Society of New Jersey; environmental organizations such as the New Jersey Conservation Foundation and the Institute Lands Preservation Committee; and education and research nonprofits such as Temple University, Trinity College in Washington, D.C., and Rutgers University's Center for the American Woman and Politics and Eagleton Institute of Politics.
Ms. Roddenbery began her career as a business writer and language teacher, entering fundraising as a writer and Director of Research for Temple University's Centennial Campaign. She went on to serve as a major gifts officer for Princeton University's $410 million campaign, held the post of Director of Major Gifts at the New School for Social Research, and served as Director of Development at Barnard College. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Tufts University, she holds a Master of Arts in French from the University of Wisconsin and a Ph.D. in Romance Languages from Princeton University.
She has served as well as a member of the Governing Board of the Association of Princeton Graduate Alumni, serving for two years as President, and on the Committee to Nominate Alumni Trustees. As a volunteer fundraiser for Princeton University, she served as Annual Giving Chairman for the Graduate School and a member of the University Resources Council on the capital gifts committee. She currently serves as Special Gifts Chair of Graduate School Annual Giving. In addition, she is Vice President for University Relations at the Princeton Club of New York, a member of the Dean's Council at Princeton University Graduate School, a Trustee of the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association and President of the New Jersey Scholars Program. A native of Washington, D.C., Ms. Roddenbery currently lives in New Jersey with her husband, Tom, and her energetic cat, Audrey.
